Sunkissed Balayage Made Easy

STEP 1
ISOLATE
For the at-home balayage technique we use a cap to isolate the hair that you want to lighten from the hair that will be untouched. Thoroughly brush and de-tangle your hair before placing the cap on and securing with a bow below your chin.
Next, use the hook provided in your kit to pull sections of hair through the holes in the cap. Don’t worry about how neat this looks at this stage.
Holding the cap in place, brush through the isolated hair to get ready for the next step.
STEP 2
SOFTEN
Starting at the ends of each isolated section tease/backcomb the hair using the comb side of your balayage applicator. The more you backcomb, the more subtle the result will be.
Tip: Wear protective clothing and the gloves provided in your kit to keep your skin safe from any spills or splashes.
STEP 3
MIX & APPLY
Prepare the mixture as instructed, then begin applying the bleach to the sections of hair left that have not been backcombed. Using the tint brush side of the balayage applicator, carefully paint the mixture onto the mid-lengths and ends for an even application.
Tip: Ask a friend or use mirrors to make sure you get those hard-to-see spots.
STEP 4
BLEND
To create a seamless transition between the lightened hair and your natural colour, use your fingers to gently smudge the product upwards towards the backcombed area at the transition point.
STEP 5
DEVELOP
Once all colour has been applied, allow the product to develop for 15-90 minutes depending on your desired lift. Refer to your strand test to determine the optimal development time for your hair.
STEP 6
RINSE
Keeping the cap on, rinse all colour from your hair. Brush through all the isolated pieces to de-tangle and then slip the cap off. Shampoo hair all hair and get ready to style.
Tip: Apply conditioner to the isolated hair to help detangle before removing the cap to ensure it slides off smoothly and effortlessly.
STEP 5
LOVE YOUR LOOK
